Qualifications

  • Perform facility maintenance duties and warranty work as assigned.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The diesel truck mechanic is responsible for maintaining the diesel equipment in the fleet while ensuring all safety requirements are met. This includes repair and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Perform all types of repair and PM work on tractors and trailers
  2. Performs standard vehicle maintenance
  3. Performs standard component inspections and repairs
  4. Performs preventive maintenance and warranty work on equipment
  5. Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
  6. Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  7. Replaces defective components as instructed
  8. Performs facility maintenance duties
  9. Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  10. Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT)
  11. Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  12. Additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Air conditioning and brake certifications
  • Previous experience with engine and electrical diagnostics
  • Driver’s License required, Class A CDL preferred
  • Previous welding experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
