Job summary

Apple Moving LLC is seeking a professionally trained diesel mechanic to support PM, service, and repairs for diesel and gasoline commercial trucks, vans, and tractors, plus forklifts and trailers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently and bring their own tools to a two-bay shop.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires strength for heavy physical work, the ability to read and interpret technical information, and a commitment to safety in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Technical school certification or advanced degree in diesel engines, electronics, and/or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in medium to heavy duty truck repairs.
• Valid driver’s license; Commercial Driver's License desirable.
• Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.
• Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes.
• Maintain parts inventory and shop cleanliness.
• Collaborate with vendors to diagnose and/or repair items that are outsourced.
• Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks.
• Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.
• Obtain and submit information to request purchase orders for consumables and parts.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Looking for a professionally trained diesel mechanic to assist in PM, Service, Minor/Major repairs to both diesel and gasoline commercial trucks, vans, and tractors in addition to forklifts and trailers. You need to be a self-starter and able to work alone. You must have your own tools. We have a 2-bay maintenance shop with office to work in. Work is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently , and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers .
• Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes .

• D emonstrate the ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibrations, etc.; and p erform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

EMPLYMENT STANDARDS:

• The position requires a technical school certification or advanced degree in diesel engines, electronics, and/or related field, minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in medium to heavy duty truck repairs.
• The ability to demonstrate successful welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required – A Commercial Driving License is highly desirable.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make logical decisions in support of business demands.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively over the phone and face to face, building solid working relationships with team members, all employees and vendors.
• Use effective time management techniques and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multitask without negatively impacting performance or results.
• Must be able to effectively and accurately complete detailed work with a sense of urgency; always keeping safety at the forefront and demonstrating safe operating procedures.
• Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and evaluate problems and situations and draw logical conclusions to make successful repairs.
• Computer skills, data accuracy, and a willingness to learn new software programs.
