Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System seeks a skilled Facilities Technician to perform troubleshooting and maintenance of complex hospital systems, with a focus on elevator recalls and related equipment. The role requires reading and understanding prints and diagrams for buildings and equipment.

Department: Facilities Management. Preferred candidates have experience in large plant operations and familiarity with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance work within healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in large plant operations.
• Knowledge of materials, lubricants, hydraulics, pneumatics, and gear/belt drives.
• Ability to read/understand prints/diagrams for buildings and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex hospital systems including elevator recalls and general maintenance/repairs.
• Operate and maintain facilities equipment with supervision as needed.
• Read and interpret building diagrams and equipment prints to determine maintenance actions.

Required Qualifications

• Require the ability to read/understand prints/diagrams for buildings and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer the ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Prefer the ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance in plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and general maintenance without supervision.
• Prefer familiarity with computers and related software (Windows Operating Systems).
• Prefer familiarity with codes applicable to field and industry.
• Prefer proficiency in written and verbal communication.
• Prefer working knowledge of hand tools pertinent to trade(s).
• Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education

HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
