Job summary

Teichert, Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic in Reno, NV to maintain and repair small engines, on-road trucks, and heavy equipment. You will diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble engines, hydraulics, fuel systems, and power trains across brands, and perform cutting, welding, and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Mechanic - Perform quality maintenance, diagnosis, disassembly, inspections, repairs, rebuilds, and reassembly on any brand of components or equipment (i.e., engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems, power generation, electrical codes, etc.).
• Maintenance - Performs scheduled and routine maintenance; reviews repair request list, assembles tools and equipment, walks or drives to the appropriate site; records parts numbers and measurements, as needed.
• Repairs - Reviews repair request list; uses hand tools and power tools to repair or remove and replace components, such as engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems and electrical systems. Helps troubleshoot and identify the causes and extent of repairs needed.
• Cutting & Welding - Measures, cuts, and welds metal to fabricate in the repair and installation of machinery
• Cleaning - Keeps work area, shop, and truck (if assigned a truck) well organized and clean.
• Operates pressure hose to clean off equipment.
• Loading/ Unloading - Manually loads and unloads tools and supplies, including gas cylinders, pipe, metal and parts; uses lift or hoist for heavier items; may use equipment to unload incoming trucks of supplies.
• Equipment operator - includes operating equipment for the purpose of mining, stockpiling, cleaning, repairing, dust control, and maintenance in the plant site.
• Laborer - includes shoveling, sweeping, operating equipment, washing, and maintaining the cleanliness of the plant site and work area.
• Miscellaneous - Works to improve profitability by controlling costs, increasing efficiencies, and exploring feasible opportunities. Completes all paperwork, parts ordering, or electronic data entry in an accurate and timely manner.
• Includes other various tasks your supervisor may ask of you pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the facility.

OBJECTIVE OF JOB

Maintain and repair small engine tools, on-road passenger vehicles and semi-trucks, and off-road heavy equipment. Small tools include but not are not limited to includes generators, light towers, arrow boards, water buffalos, saws, pressure washers, brooms, tack pots, air compressors, pumps, jackhammers, vibratory plates, jumping jacks, lasers, screens, etc. On-road fleet includes but is not limited to pickups by Ford, RAM, and GMC, Peterbilt water trucks, tractors, and 10-wheelers, Ford water trucks, Wester Star Fuel & Lube trucks, International water trucks and tractors, trailers by Haulmark, Texas Bragg, Walton, Carson, Big Tex, Dargo, Transport trailers by ASVE, Murray, Cozad, Alcom, and Wells Cargo. Off-road equipment fleet includes but is not limited to CAT skid steers, skip loaders, loaders, excavators, motor graders, paver, rollers, and compactors, John Deere backhoes and skip loaders, Ingersoll-Rand rollers, Bomag rollers, Volvo excavators and rollers, Cedarrapids pickup machine, and Bomag rollers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

EQUIPMENT USED IN PERFORMANCE OF THE JOB

Wheel Loader, Excavator, Utility Truck, Tractor, Skid Steer, Dozer, Haul Truck, Water Truck, Welder, Torch, Hand Tools, Computer and CB Radio.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Cutting, torching, grinding, welding, rigging, use of hand tools, ability to work in a team environment safely and productively. Performs responsibilities with minimum supervision. Communicates effectively with other employees and supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Shop and jobsites may contain dust, fumes, debris, low to loud levels of noise and extreme weather conditions including excessive heat or cold and rain prevalent at times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: shoveling, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting or standing for various lengths of time, and climbing of stairs.
