Job summary

BUILD Renewables, LLC is seeking a Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair construction equipment and vehicles in support of utility-scale solar project operations. This role ensures equipment readiness and safety to boost project efficiency.

You will perform preventive maintenance on PD-10s, excavators, loaders, and trucks; troubleshoot diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems; and document service activities.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in construction equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools and basic computer applications.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL and/or DOT medical card (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Must be self-motivated with a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy and light-duty construction equipment including PD-10s, excavators, loaders, skid steers, telehandlers, trucks, and trailers.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field and in shop settings.
  • Document service activities, repairs, and inspections per company standards.
  • Coordinate with the operations team to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Support mobilization, demobilization, and site inventory processes.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environments in compliance with company and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with parts ordering, inventory tracking, and tool management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

Working Conditions
  • 100% travel required; projects are nationally based.
  • Construction Site Environment - ability to lift 50+ lbs., crawl, bend, reach, and climb; exposed to noise, dust, and weather.
