Barnhart in Memphis is seeking a hands-on Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, including diesel engines, cranes, trailers, and forklifts. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and work both in the shop and in the field with a mix of stability and variety.

Candidates should have 1–3+ years in diesel or heavy equipment repair, strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and be willing to travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload without constant supervision.
• Must provide your own standard tools (specialty tools provided).
• Willingness to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment.

What You'll Do

As a Mechanic, you'll take ownership of maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, keeping operations running safely and efficiently. In this role, you will:

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and diagnostics on diesel engines, cranes, trailers, forklifts, and more
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, including onboard computer systems
• Work both in the shop and in the field, giving you a mix of stability and variety
• Operate independently, managing your day-to-day workload while collaborating with the team
• Travel occasionally to support field service needs

Standard hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with flexibility based on project demands.

What You Bring

We're looking for mechanics who are hands-on, dependable, and ready to solve problems.

Required:

• 1-3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Ability to work independently and manage workload without constant supervision
• Must provide your own standard tools (specialty tools provided)
• Willingness to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment

Preferred:

• Experience with cranes or heavy lifting equipment
• CDL Class A (or ability to obtain)
• Experience reading electrical and hydraulic schematics

Additional Expectations:

• Ability to work day/night shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed
• Willingness to travel occasionally for field work
