Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Mechanic to assemble and repair prototype transmissions, electrified power units, axles and batteries. You will support our full-service garage with powertrain removal, general repairs and minor fabrication, following build books and repair manuals.

You will perform garage and bench work, including removal and reinstallations, teardown and rebuilds of transmissions and electrified powertrains.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience with electrical, air conditioning, fuel emissions, brakes, steering, hydraulics and clutches.
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment operations.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair powertrains, axles, electrified powertrains and batteries, and vehicles, following manuals and repair docs.
  • Perform garage and bench work including transmission/axle removal and teardown and rebuilds.
  • Work shifts, including weekends when requested.

In this position...

This Mechanic will assemble and repair prototype transmissions, electrified power units, axles, and batteries. Support our full-service garage completing powertrain and drivetrain removal and replacement, general repairs, and minor fabrication.

What You'll Do...
  • Assemble, disassemble, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair production and prototype powertrains (transmissions, axles, electrified powertrains and batteries), and vehicles; following the build book, illustrations, sketches, prints, check sheets, and repair manuals.
  • Perform both garage and bench work, including, but not limited to transmission/axle removal and reinstallation, transmission/electrified powertrain teardown and rebuild
  • Will work various shifts, including weekends when requested
You’ll have...
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience with electrical, air conditioning, fuel emissions, brakes, steering, hydraulics and clutches.
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment operations
  • Valid driver's license

  • Associate’s degree
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Certified mechanic in the state of Michigan.
  • Ability to utilize or learn the Ford WORQ system and Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to communicate optimally and professionally
  • 5+ years with experience with computers for data entry/vehicle diagnostics.
  • Must be a self-starter and driven to complete projects

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $65,100-$109,300.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
