Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in Jackson, Mississippi, is seeking a dedicated mechanic to join our team. Responsibilities include performing repairs on tractors and trailers, using up to ½ inch drive tools, and supporting tire and trailer maintenance on-call.

Strong safety focus and customer service are essential. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience in tractor/trailer or heavy equipment mechanics; CDL preferred but not required,

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of tractor/trailer or heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• CDL preferred; possession of a Class A CDL is not required and can increase pay within the Tier.
• Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to follow instructions.
• Strong customer service skills and on-time performance.

Responsibilities

• Has sufficient tools for the job up to ½ inch drive.
• Perform services and minor repairs to tractor and trailers with guidance and little supervision.
• Navigate work order software and Mechanics Workstation with basic computer skills.
• Work on-call for tire repairs and trailer components, including air leaks and electrical issues.
• PM services and routine repairs with guidance; seek information when unclear.

Responsibilities include

• Has sufficient tools for the job up to ½ inch drive.
• Ability to perform services and minor repairs to tractor and trailers with guidance and little supervision.
• Working knowledge of computers, can follow instructions on how to navigate the work order software, Mechanics Workstation.
• Ability to work as an individual while on call performing tire repairs and replacements, minor repairs on equipment such as air leaks, light malfunctions, battery and cable malfunctions and trailer repairs.
• Mechanic 1 should have sufficient knowledge and skill level to perform PM services and most repairs with guidance and little supervision.
• They will be expected to ask questions and seek out information on tasks that they are unfamiliar with.

Training & Development

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of tractor/trailer or heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. (Possession of a Class A CDL is not required and can result in increased pay within the Tier)
• Dependable, safetyconscious, and able to follow instructions.
• Strong customer service skills and consistent ontime performance.
