Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend instruction manuals.
• Knowledge of air and hydraulic brake systems repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and required inspections.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Class A CDL or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Remove, disassemble, or inspect engine, transmission, differential, or parts for wear.

• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance performed.
• Respond to field breakdowns and emergency repair situations.

Job description

Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for a Mechanic located at our headquarters in Grand Forks, ND.

The pay rate for this position begins at $32.92 per hour. Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and any previous relevant experience.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Use hydraulic jack or hoist to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
• Remove, disassemble, or inspect engine, transmission, differential, or parts for wear using wrenches and hoist.
• Repair or replace parts.
• Rewire ignition system, lights and instrument panel.
• Realign and adjust brakes and replaces shock absorbers.
• Replace and adjust headlights.
• Install and repair accessories such as heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Perform overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance performed.
• Assure proper equipment operations and qualified to work on same and assist or operate equipment for proper function.
• Respond to field breakdown and emergency repair situations when required.
• Operate various types of test equipment for engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Comply with all applicable safe work practices and rules set forth by company, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Two-year automotive and diesel mechanic degree from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
• 4 years experience in automotive and diesel mechanics.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend instruction manuals.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform air and hydraulic brake systems repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform D.O.T. regulations and required inspections.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain and maintain
