Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA's Ghent, KY facility is seeking a 1st shift Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and support on-site servicing of casting and forming machinery. You will read and interpret work instructions, use measuring instruments, and collaborate with a skilled maintenance team to keep production running smoothly.

This position offers a $5,000 retention bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver license and ability to read/measures instruments.
• Preferably prior industrial/mechanical maintenance experience.
• Must read and interpret work instructions, engineering specifications, and instruments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain machinery and equipment used to cast and form steel products.
• Read and interpret work instructions and measurements.
• Identify sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and wear.
• Dismantle, replace parts using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
• Assemble/disassemble casting equipment at customer sites.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment and follow procedures.

Our Ghent, KY facility is currently seeking to fill a 1st shift Mechanic position.

$5000 retention bonus!

Applicants must pass a pre‑employment physical exam and drug screen.

Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skill set and prior experience.

Duties of the mechanic will be performed in-house and on location at customer site.

Requirements

• Current, valid driver license
• Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments
• Preferred candidates will possess previous industrial/mechanical maintenance experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing mechanical maintenance activities to the equipment used to cast and form steel products, such as sheet, coil, I-beam, and billets.
• Must be capable of reading and interpreting written work instructions, engineering specifications, and measuring instruments.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and analyzing wear and tear of machines.
• Removes and replaces defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
• Assembles and disassembles casting equipment at the customer site.
• Conserve’s maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to accomplish job results.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Physical Activities

Work is performed at ground level and above.

• Frequent: Walking, standing, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of twenty (20) lbs or less.
• Occasional: Climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting and carrying of fifty (50)– thirty (30) lbs.
