Job summary

Loomis- seeks a Fleet Mechanic to service and repair a range of fleet vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, and diagnose mechanical issues. The role involves driving vehicles for testing and parts delivery, with responsibilities including inventory management of parts and supplies.

Required are 5+ years of experience, a valid driver’s license for both automatic and manual transmissions, and compliance with DOT/FMS regulations. Full-time, on-site position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance or dealership preferred.
• Possession of valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs.
• Must meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations qualifications (section 391) and DOT brake/annual inspection standards.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, belts, hoses, brakes, bearings, tires).
• Diagnose mechanical, engine, and electrical irregularities on all size vehicles.
• Drive vehicles for testing, transfer, and parts delivery.
• Perform inventory and order parts as needed.

Job description

Shift: 4pm - 12am

Job Overview: This position is responsible for the Fleet Operations and Maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, on all size vehicles. Must perform per month.)
• Diagnose and effectively repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities/malfunctions on all size vehicles.
• Drive automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing, transfer, and pick-up/delivery of parts.
• Perform inventory and order parts, supplies, as needed.

Primary Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience (Preferably Dealership. Foreign/Domestic vehicle experience a plus)
• Possession of valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs. in size.
• Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
• Must meet DOT standards to achieve brake and annual inspection certifications. A minimum of 1 year experience or a certificate from an approved training program.

Individual Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges (in English). .
• Ability to write work orders, purchase orders.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in English) using telephone for ordering parts and supplies.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors.
• Environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes and intermittent high noise exposure.
• Exposed to wet and dry conditions in extreme heat and/or cold.
• Full-time schedule consists of an average of 40 hours per week for a 5-day period.
