Job summary

Southway Crane and Rigging Inc. is seeking a full-time Crane/Truck Mechanic to service cranes, forklifts, and related equipment at our Birmingham branch.

You will perform inspections, diagnosis, and repairs, with emphasis on hydraulic and electrical crane systems, CANBUS, and safety compliance. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of mobile crane mechanic experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass drug and background checks; overtime and weekend work are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school preferred.
• 3+ years of mobile crane mechanic/technician experience with ability to inspect cranes and diagnose defects.
• Experience with CANBUS, PAT, ECOS, and LICCON systems; read manuals and schematics to diagnose and repair.
• Ability to test mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic systems after maintenance to ensure OEM compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on cranes, forklifts and related equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose, repair and document maintenance and repairs; file reports and work orders.
• Follow safety and environmental policies; communicate safety issues to customers and co-workers.
• Work overtime and weekends as needed; operate cranes with proper hand signals; lift up to 40 lbs.

The mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on cranes, forklifts, and other various equipment. Follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicles. Follows all safety and environmental policies while performing job tasks.Candidate shall be able to perform inspections, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various Crane/Truck equipment including mobile cranes.
