Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a coating specialist to apply protective or decorative coatings to parts and assemblies. You will spray, brush, and monitor coatings for quality while ensuring coverage in hard-to-reach areas.

The Role

Coats surface of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, dope, or stain using spray gun. Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Must Have

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience. May require certification.
