Job summary

TC Energy in Kansas seeks a Mechanical Technician to support the operation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and related facilities in Meade and surrounding areas. The role involves hands-on work with high-pressure gas systems, engines, compressors, valves and storage facilities to ensure safety and reliability.

The position requires troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, SAP data entry, and coordination of projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years mechanical experience with internal combustion engines.
• Experience maintaining turbine engines (preferred).
• Knowledge of cathodic protection systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications related to cathodic protection.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, operate and maintain gas-fired reciprocating engines, gas compressors, standby generator engines, pumps, boilers and other equipment.
• Inspect, repair and set regulators and relief valves.
• Plan and perform mechanical maintenance activities and major projects.
• Enter data into SAP work orders and complete related documentation.
• Occasional travel to other company locations for temporary assignments.

Connect to what matters.The OpportunityOur US Gas Operations Upland Prairie team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Kansas to support the operation and maintenance of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Meade and the surrounding area.We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician who possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline and/or gas storage systems, to include reciprocating engine compressors.This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.What you’ll doTroubleshoot, operate and maintain gas-fired reciprocating engines, gas compressors, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large-bank cooler fans and gear boxes, large diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipmentOperate compressor engines and support equipmentMaintain and repair pipelineOperate and maintain valves and operatorsInspect, repair and set regulators and relief valvesBlow down, purge and pressurize pipelines and/or stationsOperate and maintain storage field facilityPerform line locates on company pipelines and/or utility line patrols and associated ROW maintenancePlan, coordinate and perform mechanical maintenance activities, to include routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements and major maintenance projectsComplete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAPOther tasks as requiredMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentRelevant oil and gas industry experienceUnderstand and describe the operation of a 4-cycle combustion engine3 years mechanical experience with internal combustion enginesPreferred QualificationsExperience in maintaining and troubleshooting turbine enginesKnowledge of internal combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generatorsExperience with gas turbine enginesIndustrial experience in a plant environmentKnowledge and experience in cathodic protection systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshootingAbility to conduct surveys and inspections to assess the effectiveness of cathodic protection systemsProficiency in using equipment and tools related to cathodic protection, such as voltmeters, reference electrodes, and data loggersUnderstanding of industry standards and regulations related to cathodic protectionCapability to interpret technical drawings and specifications related to cathodic protection systemsExperience in preparing reports and documentation for cathodic protection activitiesThis position requires candidates to Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving recordSuccessfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testingBe subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks for emergency response purposesTravel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from homeBe subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditionsDriving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.
