Job summary

JLL is seeking a Mechatronics & Robotics Technician in Clear Brook, VA, to support the Operations & Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining equipment. This role includes installing, maintaining, and repairing automated systems, while also offering mentorship opportunities for junior technicians.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, with 2+ years of relevant experience in equipment repair and preventative maintenance. Benefits include a 401(k) plan, comprehensive medical care, and paid parental leave.

Mechatronics & Robotics Technician – JLL

What this job involves

As a Mechatronics & Robotics Technician, you will use your skills to support the Operations & Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the building. You will have the opportunity to install, maintain and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment. In addition to developing your skills, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior technicians to grow in their roles.

What your day‑to‑day will look like

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
• Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo‑eyes, relays, and more
• Maintain positive working relationships across all the operations facilities
• Track and store department inventory
• Move up to 49 lbs and stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Travel up to 20 % of the time

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
• 2 + years of experience repairing material handling equipment
• 2 + years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or higher degree from a vocational school or college focused on mechanical or electrical engineering
• 2 + years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
• 1 + year of blueprint and electrical schematic reading
• 1 + year of knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
• Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with OEM and general safety standards
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance
• Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions

Physical Demands

• Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking
• Lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 lbs, occasionally up to 49 lbs
• Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, use of foot pedals, and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces
• Standing/walking on concrete surfaces for 10+ hour shifts
• Working at heights (as stated previously)
• Pushing/pulling wheeled equipment and carts up to 100 + lbs
• Maneuvering awkward or bulky equipment parts
• Working in cramped positions under/behind machinery
