Job summary

The Kroger family of Companies is seeking a Meat Department associate to prepare and display meat items and assist customers. You will uphold company standards, rotate stock, and maintain clean, organized areas in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include receiving and scheduling, following health and safety policies, and delivering friendly, efficient service. Weekend availability and teamwork are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
• Able to operate power and various job tools (wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, jack).
• Must work safely with cleaning solutions.

• Meat work experience or similar food preparation experience.
• Dependability and integrity in work history.
• Knowledge of laws related to employment practices and food handling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, orderly manner.
• Check product quality; ensure freshness and proper rotation.
• Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and organized.
• Keep carts, tools, and supplies in designated areas and tidy.
• Ensure proper inventory levels and freshness; unload trucks and prepare merchandise for sale.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment per company and Health Dept. policies.
• Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
• Communicate effectively with customers and associates.
• Wait on customers promptly, greet them, and assist in finding products.
• Follow all rules and duties of Meat, Company, and applicable laws.
• Maintain clean work area and equipment; be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional.
• Adhere to dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and harassment/discrimination policies.
• Maintain equipment and facilities according to policies.

Job description

Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards and policies. Wait on customers and provide customer services. Demonstrate the company’s leadership behaviors and the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, orderly manner.
• Check product quality; make sure it is always fresh, safe, and merchandise is properly rotated.
• Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and well organized.
• Keep carts, tools, and supplies in their designated areas and well organized. Keep floors, clean, safe, and free from clutter.
• Work display cases to insure proper inventory levels and freshness. Unload trucks, sort, and prepare merchandise for sale.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and Health Dept. policies and procedures.
• Make clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
• Able to communicate with customers and fellow associates.
• Wait on customers and counter promptly and cheerfully. Greet customers and assist them in finding products.
• Follow all current rules and duties of the Meat, Company, and State and Federal laws, as made known.
• Must keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
• Adhere to company policies & procedures, particularly in the areas of dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintenance of a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.
• Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform any and all duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help all members of the department
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers
• Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling, etc.
