Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Keep meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smile and greet customers, make suggestions, and answer questions about various cuts and product preparation. Take orders for future delivery and help fill special requests. Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
• Set up displays and rotate products as needed. Ensure meat is fresh, saleable, and properly priced with correct signage. Handle spoiled, damaged, or near‑expiration products according to company procedures. Remove non‑saleable items to maintain quality.
• May grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
• Weigh and wrap merchandise at customer request; apply stickers showing correct price and weight. Maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality. Adhere to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or using kitchen tools. Handle general sanitation in the department and follow cleaning schedules and guidelines to keep work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc., clean and meet health and OSHA requirements. Dispose of trash properly and empty bone cans.
• Assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages. Report shortages or overages to the manager.
• May assist with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if properly trained. Training provided.
• May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. Training provided.
• Ensure smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with co‑workers and superiors. Continuously improve job performance.
• Utilize all company‑provided personal protective equipment (PPE), including cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company‑sponsored footwear.
• May also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Completed or working toward a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). No prior experience required.

Rate of Pay and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position starts at $15.00 and goes up to $22.00.
