Job summary

The Montana Department of Livestock is seeking a Meat Poultry Inspector for the Bitterroot Valley. This role conducts in-plant inspections to ensure meat and poultry products meet state and federal safety standards, and records findings in weekly reports.

You will travel extensively within the region, inspecting live animals, carcasses, facilities, and labeling, enforcing sanitation and labeling regulations. A high school diploma and one year in meat or food safety are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in the food safety or meat industries.

Responsibilities

• Inspect meat and poultry plants for compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Record findings and prepare weekly activity reports.
• Sample products for laboratory testing and verify plant records.
