Responsibilities

  • Establish performance goals for department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Develop scheduling to manage customer volume across hours of operation.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal laws, guidelines, and food safety regulations.
  • Create welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions in the department and store.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve results.
  • Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
  • Educate associates about promotions and ads; stay current on pricing and promotions.
  • Prepare seasonal critiques and support promotional planning for the department.
  • Monitor inventory and note discrepancies.
  • Plan and supervise price changes and shelf signage.
  • Organize and supervise inventory processes; monitor expenses.
  • Train staff on inventory, CAO systems, and stocking procedures.
  • Ensure proper temperatures and safety protocols; report unsafe conditions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and report needed repairs.
  • Report safety risks and any irregular activities; follow company policies.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports; conduct performance reviews.

  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, company guidelines, and food safety regulations
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management
  • Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming and special in-store promotions, especially promotions that affect the Meat/Seafood department; stay current on present, future, and seasonal ads
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor, implement period promotional plan for department
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory
  • Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs
  • Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process; monitor/control expenses for the department
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained; reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
  • Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
