Job summary

Regis Corporation is seeking a Meat Department Supervisor to direct and supervise all Meat Department functions, ensuring sales and profit goals are met. You will train staff, maintain product presentation, manage inventory, and ensure accurate pricing and POS integrity.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent customer service, and the ability to work variable shifts while meeting health and sanitation standards. Previous meat department experience a must.

Qualifications

  • High school education is a minimum requirement, including some college courses.
  • Minimum three years of experience in Meat Department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work variable shifts.
  • Ensures that all department personnel are trained in the store’s method of performing department activities.
  • Greets customers and provides prompt and courteous service or assistance.
  • Follows approved Meat department plans for space management based on product movement, demand and profitability.
  • Monitors receiving and unloading of meat merchandise; verifies items, counts and vendor invoices.
  • Orders and maintains inventory to maximize sales and minimize stockouts.
  • Ensures meat cuts are trimmed and attractively presented.
  • Ensures pricing accounts for tare weights and shrink.
  • Rotates perishable merchandise per department policies and dates.
  • Inspects packaged products for freshness and visual appeal, pulling for re-wrapping as needed.
  • Maintains signs and prices accurately, positioned over products.
  • Addresses damaged or spoiled products to control shrinkage and pilferage.
  • Verifies front-end (POS) accuracy and integrity.
  • Participates in training to improve department processes and customer service.
  • Enforces housekeeping, sanitation and health regulation standards.
  • Evaluates performance, conducts appraisals, and supports training for new employees.
  • Visits competitive store departments to compare and improve operations.
  • Meets the physical requirements to perform job functions.

Summary:

To provide quality customer service by directing and supervising all functions and activities of Meat Department personnel to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department; to maintain and operate the Meat Department in an efficient manner within store policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must be able to work variable shifts
  • Ensures that all department personnel are trained in the store’s method of performing department activities.
  • Greets customers and provides them with a prompt and courteous service or assistance as needed.
  • Follows approved Meat department plans for effective space management based on product movement, consumer demand, and on profitability.
  • Monitors the receiving and unloading of meat merchandise to:
    • Ensure that the meat receiving accurately reflects the items and counts listed on vendor invoices
    • Ensure accurate billing and pricing
    • Confirm quality, code dates, counts and conditions
    • Enforce receiving procedures according to store policy
  • Orders and maintains inventory to ensure freshness, product quality and turnover to a maximize sales and minimize out-of-stocks or overstocks.
  • Ensures that all meat cuts are properly trimmed and attractively presented.
  • Ensures that product pricing makes adequate allowance for tare weights and shrink as applicable.
  • Ensures that perishable merchandise is rotated in accordance with department policies and product code dates.
  • Implements a procedure for making regularly scheduled inspections of packaged products for freshness and visual appeal, pulling products for re-wrapping a required.
  • Ensures that all signs and prices are maintained accurately and are correctly positioned over each respective product.
  • Takes care of damaged, out-of-code and spoiled products according to department procedures and takes positive action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.
  • Verifies front-end (POS) accuracy and integrity
  • Participates in training activities to increase personal skill level, to improve overall department processes and customer service
  • Enforces general housekeeping and regular sanitation and cleaning program that meets the standards established by the department and all applicable health regulations.
  • Evaluates and reacts to performance issues and actively recruits as necessary. Carries out performance appraisals, supports a counseling and training program for new employees.
  • Visits competitive store departments on a regular bases to compare and improve operations.
  • Meets the physical requirement to perform the job functions listed above.
