Job summary

Fortune Fish & Gourmet in Wisconsin is seeking a Cutter I for the meat production room. This role requires completing the Cutter and Cutter I checklists and handling daily workload safely, accurately, on-time, and on-budget.

You will support training of other cutters, contribute feedback to the Meat Production Supervisor, and engage with Fortune’s data-driven approach while upholding our mission, values, and commitment to quality and customers.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of foodservice production experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and operation instructions.
  • Good communication in English; bilingualism desired.

Summary Of Position

The (meat) Cutter I is a knife portion cutting position reporting to the Meat Production Supervisor. This position can independently perform cutting and (cutting) admin tasks for a minimum of one knife cutting station in the meat production room.

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:30am-12pm, with flexibility required as end times may vary to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete Cutter and Cutter I “Fortune Meat Room Cutter Handbook” position checklists.
  • Understand and execute assigned daily workload safely, accurately, on-time, and on-budget.
  • Assist with training other cutters.
  • Actively offer feedback and suggestions for improvement to the Meat Production Supervisor.
  • Embrace and understand the data driven approach utilized in the meat production room.
  • Be a daily supporter of Fortune’s mission/vision/values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 plus years of foodservice production experience.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)- Bilingual strongly desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and supervising instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours, when needed.
  • Previous kitchen or foodservice production experience preferred.

Physical & Mental Demand

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower position to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position – to – position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause workers to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
