Essential Responsibilities
- Responsibility – Perform the duties of meat/seafood counter clerk as necessary and support daily department operations.
- Service – Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated to increase customer confidence and loyalty. Prepares and packages food products and processes customer orders to their specifications; processes fresh meats, smoked meats, seafood, random weight, lunchmeat, frozen food and salted meats to production standards. Utilizes peak time performance cutting lists to cut and trim all products as directed by company standards. Properly wraps, weighs and prices product as needed. Properly cubes, slices and grinds meat as needed. Operates department equipment and tools. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.

Essential Responsibilities
- 60%: Service – Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated to increase customer confidence and loyalty. Prepare and package food products and process customer orders to their specifications; processes fresh meats, smoked meats, seafood, random weight, lunchmeat, frozen food and salted meats to production standards. Utilizes peak time performance cutting lists to cut and trim all products as directed by company standards. Properly wraps, weighs and prices product as needed. Properly cubes, slices and grinds meat as needed. Operates department equipment and tools. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled. Perform duties of meat/seafood counter clerk, as necessary.
- 20%: Leadership – Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job specific information. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- 10%: Financial – Stocks and rotates department products to ensure freshness and date control; restocks and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost. Receives and breakdowns meat deliveries. Keeps work area clean, orderly and free from safety hazards. Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Utilizes production planning tools to produce fresh products and ensures discarding or markdown processes are followed to reduce shrink. Ensures product is held at proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs per policy.
- 10%: Compliance/Safety – Ensures safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity. Adheres to regulatory requirements for food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA. Executes recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner and secures items from customer access. Reports safety risks, accidents, illegal activity, theft or fraud. Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies. Fosters a culture of safety, ensures training, and posts Hazardous Assessments. Uses PPE as required and ensures equipment is maintained and safe. Reports and assists with remediation of safety hazards.

Relevant Experience Supervisory Experience 0 - 3 yrs minimum
- Must be 18 years of age
- Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed
- Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling

Environmental Factors Retail - Meat/Seafood: Physical Demands: Standing or walking on various flooring, manual dexterity, speaking, vision, hearing, and repetitive movements. Reach, carry, push or lift up to required weights. May sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb up to 10 ft. Working indoors/outdoors in various conditions. May face safety hazards, sharp objects, loud noise, dust, fumes and other toxins. Equipment includes cleaning supplies, scale, knife, slicers, wrapping equipment, and more. Lifting requirements: up to 70 lbs; Pushing 250 lbs.
