Job summary

Food City in Chattanooga, TN is seeking an internship in the meat department. You will help cut, grind, slice and merchandise fresh meat, assist with ordering, receiving and displaying products, and support daily department operations under supervision.

The role emphasizes safety and HACCP compliance, neat display, proper dating, and courteous service to customers. This internship offers exposure to inventory, on-site work, and teamwork in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Meat cutting experience a plus, but not required.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Cut and merchandise fresh meat.
• Assist in ordering, receiving and displaying all products.
• Grind meat.
• Slice meat.
• Assist in organizing cooler and stocking display.
• Rotate and ensure proper dating of products.
• Maintain neat appearance of display cases and work area.
• Sanitize department twice daily.
• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers.
• Assist in HACCP program enforcement and maintenance.

• Assist in organizing cooler arrangement and stocking of cooler.
• Responsible for rotation of product.
• Maintain neat and clean appearance of all display cases.
• Maintain good code dates on all product in display cases.
• Keep work station and area around work station neat and clean.
• Department is to be sanitized and disinfected twice a day.
• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers.
• Assist in enforcing and maintaining the company HACCP program.
