Job summary

Public Service Electric & Gas Co. is seeking a Shipping and Receiving role at the Meter Shop. Responsibilities include operating forklifts, delivering meters, and assisting in inventory management while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and the ability to diagnose meter and AMI/AMR devices. CDL Class B with air brake endorsement is a plus; prior Meter Shop experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to diagnose and correct meter & AMI/AMR issues.
  • Knowledge of corporate safety rules and practices.
  • Understanding testing procedures and maintenance of meters and test equipment.
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Pass GAS test.
  • Experience in the Meter Shop is preferred.
  • Ability to qualify for CDL Class B with air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver meters and equipment to company locations or job sites.
  • Perform light maintenance to the facility.
  • Assist in inventory management.

Summary

At this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered.

Perform duties as they relate to shipping and receiving of all goods at the Meter Shop, including but not limited to all types of meters and related equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate manual and motorized forklifts in order to ship and/or receive goods.
  • Make deliveries of meters and related equipment to company locations or job sites.
  • Perform light maintenance to the facility.
  • Assist in the management of inventory.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • In the Meter Shop, test residential grade meters (200 series and below) and install and program ERT devices on all grades of meters.
  • In the Meter Shop and the field, assist higher classifications in the performance of their duties.
Job Qualifications

Meet the Company's "General Requirements"; and in addition:

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge to diagnose and correct the usual operating difficulties with meters and associated AMI / AMR devices.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of corporate safety rules and practices.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of testing procedure, and the operation and maintenance of meters, meter test equipment and other related devices applicable to the work.
  • Possess a valid U. S driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record
  • Successfully pass the GAS test
  • Experience working in the Measurement Meter Shop.
  • Ability to qualify for a commercial drivers license (Class B with air brake endorsement).
