Job summary

Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is seeking a Measurement and Controls Technician I to support field operations across Appalachian Basin sites. You will design, install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot process equipment in oil and gas facilities, interfacing with SCADA, IT, and field teams.

The role requires a high school diploma (associates preferred) and knowledge of instrumentation, Hart/Modbus, and HMI systems; ability to work safely in industrial environments and lift up to 70

Qualifications

  • Oil and gas instrumentation and measurement experience.
  • Basic knowledge of gas and liquid measurement technologies (Orifice, Ultrasonic, Coriolis, Turbine).
  • Basic understanding of Hart/Modbus and related standards.
  • SCADA platforms knowledge (Cygnet preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot EFM/RTU/PLC programs and deploy local HMI programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field-level technical support for design, installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of oil and gas facility equipment.
  • Interface daily with SCADA, IT field support, Operations, and Engineering teams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and measurement systems in industrial environments.

DGOC is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas and oil wells, midstream pipelines, and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States. Headquartered in Birmingham, AL, field operations are located throughout the Appalachian Basin in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In 2021, DGOC expanded into its Central Regional Focus Area, which includes producing areas in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Measurement and Controls Technician I will work as part of the Measurement and Control Team and the larger IT field support group. This position will interface daily with other IT teams, including the SCADA and Internal Measurement teams, as well as Field Operations and Engineering support teams. The qualified individual will provide field‑level technical support in the design, installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all oil and gas facility process equipment.

Special Focus
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates or technical degree in instrumentation, automation, or process controls is preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat; other computer proficiency required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with company management, engineering, and operations staff.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, prioritize work schedules, and focus attention on details.
  • Able to multi‑task and prioritize work to achieve critical timelines.
  • Ability to work safely in challenging environments, including high temperature, noise, dust, and other industrial or oilfield locations.
  • Physical requirements include walking up and down stairs or ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and insurer.
  • Available for emergency and on‑call support.
Position Requirements
  • Oil and gas instrumentation and measurement experience.
  • Basic understanding of instruments, communication protocols (Hart, Modbus), configuration software packages, and test devices.
  • Basic knowledge of gas and liquid measurement technologies (e.g., Orifice, ultrasonic, Coriolis, turbine).
  • Basic knowledge of relevant AGA, API, and GPA standards.
  • Basic knowledge of chart recorders and associated maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of wireless networks, including radios, cellular modems, switches, routers, and other network gear (e.g., Sierra Wireless, Freewave, MDS, Fortinet).
  • Ability to connect to and troubleshoot EFM/RTU and/or PLC programs (e.g., Fisher ROC / Floboss, ABB, Bristol Control Wave, Modicon, Allen Bradley).
  • Ability to open, load, and deploy local HMI programs (e.g., Beijer, Red Lion, Pro Face, Panel View).
  • Basic knowledge and experience troubleshooting and repairing artificial lift equipment (e.g., Plunger, POC, ESP).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work on electrical equipment from 12 VDC to 600 VAC.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of SCADA platforms (Cygnet preferred).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to move or traverse from one location on the job site to another, remain in a stationary position for extended periods, and position oneself to perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, or squatting. Occasionally ascend/descend ladders or uneven terrain.
  • Ability to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess driving operations effectively (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Ability to operate a 4×4 vehicle.
  • Must repetitively move or position feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, and back; constantly use and position hands and fingers in performance of work.
  • Must work atop elevated surfaces and traverse various heights.
  • Lift or carry 70 lbs. or more, classified as “heavy” (over 50 lbs).
  • Frequently push and pull with a maximum force of 150 lb.
  • Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions and be exposed to varying environmental conditions, including well site conditions. Position requires performing tasks in physically demanding environments.
Driver Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Position involves operating a company vehicle for work‑related travel or receiving a stipend for operating a personal vehicle for company use; adherence to all traffic laws and company vehicle policies is required.
  • Candidates must be eligible to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
