Job summary

Canes Midstream is seeking a Measurement & Controls Tech to oversee installation, calibration, and maintenance of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation in West Texas gas processing facilities. You will manage AC/DC power distribution, control gear, meters, and field-to-SCADA communications to ensure safe operations.

Applicants should have experience in gas measurement, calibration, and related instrumentation; a valid Texas driver’s license is required; on-site work and potential travel are

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic day-to-day troubleshooting and work to carry out solutions.
• Fundamental knowledge of instrumentation and controls associated with natural gas.
• Minimum 12-18 months verifiable experience in gas measurement or related fields or an accredited Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Installation and troubleshooting of measurement and communication equipment.
• Monthly, Quarterly flow meter calibrations.
• Complete all appropriate documentation and reports.
• Procurement of spot, composite, gas, and liquid samples.
• Knowledge of low voltage AC and 12-24V DC applications.
• Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot transmitters, analyzers, valves, and related equipment.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot gas chromatographs.
• Understand Hart, RS232, RS485 Modbus, TCP/IP communications.

The Measurement & Controls Tech is responsible for the safe oversight and/or manipulation, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation; AC and DC power distribution and controls; Low and Medium Voltage switchgear, motors, soft starts, and variable frequency drives ranging from 1.0hp to 5,000hp; Radio and field network data communications; All aspects of Gas and NGL/LPG custody transfer measurement; Orifice, Coriolis, PD, & Turbine meters; BS&W, tank gauging, color cut, and thief sampling in natural gas processing facilities, gas compressor stations. This position must continually strive to maintain the highest standards for safety, excellence, leadership, and professionalism, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of Canes Midstream.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installation and troubleshooting of measurement and communication equipment


• Monthly, Quarterly flow meter calibrations


• Complete all appropriate documentation and reports


• Procurement of spot, composite, gas, and liquid samples


• Knowledge and ability to work on low voltage AC, and 12-24V DC applications (including but not limited to the use of relays, external power packs, etc.)


• Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot a variety of analog, digital transmitters, analyzers, pneumatic, electric slam valves, flow control valves, etc.


• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot gas chromatographs


• Understanding and knowledge of Hart, RS232, RS485 Modbus, TCP/IP communications


• Install and maintain field to SCADA communications for equipment (flow computers, transmitters, analyzers, flow control valves, chromatographs)


• Obtain detailed knowledge of Canes' radio networks, and field to SCADA access points


• Internal:Work with gas control, EHS, and Engineering


• External: Work with producers, customers, vendors, contractors, service companies, regulatory agencies, and the public


• Adhere to Canes Policies and Procedures as well as applicable industry standards and practices

Perform any other related duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Fundamental knowledge of instrumentation and controls associated with natural gas

EDCUATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 12-18 months verifiable experience in any combination of Gas Measurement, Crude Operations & Measurement, Commercial/Industrial Electrician, Instrumentation and Electrical Technician, Radio Communications Technician, Measurement Specialist, or accredited Bachelor's degree plus 3 years applicable experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and maintain insurability with corporate insurance company.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

• Proficient with MS Excel – Create spreadsheets, manipulate, sort, and validate data


• Proficient with MS Word – Create professional reports and written documentation


• Proficient with MS Power Point – Create training and informational presentations


• Advanced File Management – Copy, move, save in Drop Box, Explorer, and Network


• Proficient with Google Earth and MS Streets & Trips


• Basic Database


• Advanced with PCCU, WinCCU, RocLink, ProLink, Emerson MON, RS Logix


• Basic understanding of Wonder Ware, Clear SCADA, Tech-Tools, and P-Gas helpful
