Job summary

Momentum Engineering, Inc. seeks a Cyber Systems Engineer - ISSO to secure complex information systems and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements.

You will support information assurance, security authorization, vulnerability management, and day-to-day security operations across mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on ISSO experience, is comfortable working across technical and compliance activities, and holds DoD 8570 IAM Level I or higher certification.

Qualifications

• Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph.
• Five years of ISSO experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; four additional ISSO years may substitute for the degree.
• DoD 8570 IAM Level I certification or higher; meet applicable DoD 8570 requirements prior to performing in the role.
• Experience with cybersecurity tools, hardware/software security, and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Information Systems Security Approval Authority for systems under assigned responsibility.
• Provide technical and compliance support for the IA program.
• Plan, coordinate, implement, and enforce IT security programs across multiple systems and projects.
• Maintain the operational security posture of mission-critical information systems.
• Develop, implement, and enforce information system security policies, standards, procedures, and methodologies.
• Support day-to-day cybersecurity operations, including system monitoring, security reviews, and incident response activities.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and security evaluations in support of system certification and accreditation activities.
• Evaluate security solutions to ensure requirements for protecting classified and sensitive information are satisfied.
• Support system configuration management, change control, and security impact assessment activities.
• Identify security risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps and coordinate mitigation/remediation.
• Review system changes for potential security impacts and authorization status.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to maintain system compliance.
• Prepare, maintain, and review cybersecurity documentation (SSPs, Risk Assessments, C&A packages, SRTMs).
• Support security reviews, assessments, audits, and other authorization activities.
• Maintain knowledge of cybersecurity tools, technologies, protocols, encryption methods, and security practices.

• This position supports the full lifecycle of system security operations, including information assurance, security authorization, vulnerability and risk management, configuration control, security documentation, and day‑to‑day operational security
• The ideal candidate has hands‑on ISSO experience supporting mission‑critical systems and is comfortable working across both technical and compliance‑focused cybersecurity activities

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the Information Systems Security Approval Authority for systems under assigned responsibility.
• Provide technical and compliance support for the organization’s Information Assurance (IA) program.
• Plan, coordinate, implement, and enforce IT security programs across multiple systems and projects.
• Maintain the operational security posture of mission‑critical information systems
• Develop, implement, and enforce information system security policies, standards, procedures, and methodologies
• Support day‑to‑day cybersecurity operations, including system monitoring, security reviews, and incident response activities
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and security evaluations in support of system certification and accreditation activities
• Evaluate security solutions to ensure requirements for protecting classified and sensitive information are satisfied
• Support system configuration management, change control, and security impact assessment activities
• Identify security risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps and coordinate appropriate mitigation or remediation activities
• Review system changes for potential impacts to security posture and authorization status
• Coordinate with system owners, engineers, administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to maintain system compliance
• Prepare, maintain, and review cybersecurity documentation, including:
• • System Security Plans (SSPs)
  • Risk Assessment Reports
  • Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages
  • System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs)
• Support security reviews, assessments, audits, and other authorization‑related activities
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable cybersecurity tools, technologies, communication protocols, encryption methods, and security implementation practices

Required Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Experience must include at least one of the following areas:
• • Current cybersecurity and security‑management tools

  • Encryption techniques and tools
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
• Four (4) years of additional ISSO experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree
• Required Certification
• • DoD 8570 IAM Level I certification or higher
  • Must meet applicable DoD 8570 requirements prior to performing in the role

Desired Qualifications

Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
