Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Maryland is seeking a Database Engineer/Oracle Database Administrator to support critical systems with stringent requirements. The role involves designing and developing databases, managing data flow, and addressing database-specific needs. Required qualifications include an active Top Secret clearance and extensive database administration experience, particularly with Oracle and related technologies. Qualifications

  • Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph.
  • At least 10 years of high‑level, in‑depth, dedicated database experience.
  • Proficiency in data migration, data replication, and general database administration.
  • Solid understanding of Oracle and other relational/non-relational databases.
  • Experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and general SQL.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, particularly Java.

Job Summary
  • Seeking a Database Engineer/Oracle Database Administrator to support a complex system with exacting interface, performance, and security requirements, and provide database engineering expertise in one or more of the following areas: architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/ implementation, testing, and documentation
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis activities
  • Support the analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts
  • Support the development of long‑term and short‑term requirements for database administration and design
  • Assist in developing databases, database parser software, and database loading software
  • Translate requirements and data into usable database schemas by creating or recreating ad‑hoc queries, scripts and macros, making updates to existing queries, and creating new queries to manipulate data into a master file
  • Assist in the development of database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development
  • Develop requirement recommendations from a project’s inception to its conclusion for a particular Business and IT subject matter area (i.e. simple to complex systems)
  • Develop database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development
Required Qualifications
  • Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
  • Must have at least 10 years of high‑level, in‑depth, dedicated database experience
  • Must have in‑depth experience as a Database Administrator to include proficiency in tasks such as data migration, data replication, user administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, issue investigation, issue resolution, and general administration
  • Must have a solid understanding of databases, primarily Oracle and/or other relational and non‑relational/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Must have experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and SQL in general
  • Must have knowledge of programming languages to include Java
  • Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices
  • Must be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking
  • Must be capable of performing high quality work both independently, and with a team, in a fast‑moving environment
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and/or as a member of an Agile team
  • Experience with Cassandra
  • Experience with MongoDB

Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
