Job summary

Momentum Engineering, Inc. seeks a Cloud System Administrator to operate in a Java-based cloud platform using Kubernetes, Hadoop and Accumulo. The role focuses on data-intensive analytics, day-to-day operations, and Tier 1–3 support in an evening/mid shift.

Candidates will ensure secure cloud operations, implement IAM controls, and collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams to modernize systems. Strong Linux, scripting, and cloud skills required.

Qualifications

• Requires active TS/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/computer field.
• 7+ years Linux/Unix networking experience (nmap, tcpdump, firewalls).
• 2+ years DNS Administration experience (DNS, hosts, DHCP).
• 8570 IAT Level I or higher (Security+ preferred) required.
• Certifications: AWS DevOps Pro or CDP Admin Private Cloud or CK A.
• Cloud certification and 8570 verification will be done at interview/offer.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting and scripting experience (Python, Bash).

Job Summary

• Seeking a Cloud System Administrator to perform in a cloud environment platform, built with Java on Free and Open-Source Software products including Kubernetes, Hadoop and Accumulo, to enable the execution of data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure
• The ideal candidate will support a team that ensures day-to-day operations stability, provides customer support, as well as knowledge in technical and troubleshooting repair expertise
• The ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment who is self-motivated and proactively completes tasks with strong attention to detail
• This is an evening or mid shift position and candidate is expected to provide Tier 1 through 3 support

Primary Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain cloud environments, including compute, storage, networking, and identity services
• Provision, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud resources to ensure high availability and performance
• Implement and manage access controls, including IAM roles, RBAC, MFA, and privileged access management
• Support cloud security best practices, including patching, vulnerability remediation, logging, and incident response
• Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and change management processes
• Support backup, recovery, and continuity operations for cloud-hosted systems
• Coordinate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams to support system integration and modernization efforts

Required Qualifications

• Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
• 7 years of experience RedHat/CentOS command line
• 7 years of experience Linux/Unix networking (nmap, tcpdump, firewalls)
• 7 years of experience RedHat/CentOS kickstart/provisioning (Setting it up)
• 2+ years of experience RedHat DNS Administration (DNS, hosts files, DHCP)
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• 8570 IAT Level I or higher (preferably Security+) is required and must be obtained prior to starting
• One of the following certifications are required:
• • AWS DevOps Engineer Professional
  • CDP Administrator - Private Cloud Base
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• Possession of a Cloud Certification and 8570 certification is required and will be verified as part of the interview or offer process
• Strong background in troubleshooting operational issues in a Linux environment
• Additional knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Hadoop and scripting experience such as python and bash

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Prometheus, JIRA, Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Virtualization, Salt/ Ansible, Grafana, Openstack and AWS
