Job summary

Webasto Group in Auburn Hills, MI, seeks an entry-level Manufacturing/Process Engineer to design and improve production lines and equipment. You will work across cross-functional teams to meet cost, quality and timing targets, while interpreting drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Up to 3 years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing equipment or production processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, layouts, and other technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment design, continuous improvement, quality, safety and cost requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to collaborate across technical teams and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design of state-of-the-art assembly lines, manufacturing equipment, and production concepts to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develop and evaluate equipment layouts, specifications, drawings, and manufacturing processes for new and existing production lines.
  • Support the design, construction, testing, installation, and implementation of manufacturing equipment from concept through production launch.
  • Ensure production line and equipment designs meet quality, cost, safety, reliability, timing, and performance requirements.
  • Analyze existing equipment and processes to identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce cost, quality, and delivery gaps.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement new technologies.

This is what you bring to us
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, with a strong foundation in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or similar engineering principles
  • Up to 3 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably supporting manufacturing equipment, assembly lines, or production processes within an automotive or industrial environment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, layouts, and other technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment design, continuous improvement principles, and requirements related to quality, safety, cost, reliability, and production efficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams, manage priorities, and communicate clearly in English
