Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Resident Assessment or Administrator, responsible for coordinating the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring accurate and timely resident assessments in accordance with Medicare, Medicaid, OBRA, and other payor requirements. Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure assessments reflect residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial status.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the admission process regarding nursing needs and placement.
  2. Determine potential RUGs and associated expenses for admissions.
  3. Review applications, conduct assessments, and communicate results.
  4. Complete and verify the accuracy of the MDS process for all residents.
  5. Stay informed of Medicare criteria and communicate regulatory changes.
  6. Monitor Case Mix Index scores for Medicaid reimbursement risks.
  7. Assist in solving complex admissions issues.
  8. Ensure Medicare assessment schedules and documentation are accurate and timely.

Qualifications:

  1. Preferred 2 years of experience as an MDS coordinator or related role.
  2. Current and valid state nursing license.
  3. Experience in clinical or skilled nursing settings.
  4. Deep knowledge of medical terminology.
  5. Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  6. Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  7. Proficiency in MDS 3.0.
