Job summary

Leidos seeks a Network Engineer to support DGOC operations at Scott AFB, IL. The role focuses on configuring and analyzing circuits across optical and IP networks, with real-time redesigns to ensure continuity of DoD services.

You will work with customers and other NOCs to maintain maximum availability and document incidents throughout lifecycle. Qualified candidates hold a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification, BS degree or higher, and an active DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification required before start date.
• Requires BS degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or Master’s with less than 2 years’ experience.
• Able to work in a 24x7 shift environment.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance required.
• Understanding of Transport and IP network topologies.

Responsibilities

• Execute network operations with configuration and analysis of circuits across optical and IP equipment.
• Perform real-time circuit redesign to restore connectivity during outages and maintenance.
• Collaborate with customers and other NOCs to maximize network availability.
• Monitor network alarms using platform-specific management tools.
• Document outages, degradations, isolations, escalations, and resolutions in incident systems.
• Assess and propose resolutions leveraging knowledge of routers, switches, crypto devices, and DWDM technologies.

Our customer is the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and acts as the provider of GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers, the department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position directly supports the DISA-provided GIG capabilities and services in the 24x7 DISA Global Operations Center (DGOC).

The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector and Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) have an opening in our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Operations Support Cell for a Network Engineer at Scott AFB, IL.

Responsibilites

• Execute network operations to include configuration and analysis of customer circuits across optical and electro-optical multiplexers, , Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), routers, and switches.
• Perform real-time circuit redesign (alternate routing) to restore customer connectivity during scheduled and unscheduled outages and maintenance actions.
• Work directly with supported customers and engineers across other NOCs to ensure maximum network availability to minimize or eliminate mission and operational impact.
• Proactively monitor network alarms across platform specific network management tools.
• Utilize incident management applications to document all aspects of reported outages/degradations, isolations, escalations, and resolutions during the lifecycle of a service impacting network incident.
• Assess, identify and recommend resolutions to various network incidents and/or deficiencies leveraging knowledge in one or more of following: routers, switches, crypto devices, Ciena, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching, SONET/SDH, satellite communications.

Basic Qualifications

• Hold DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start date.
• Requires BS degree and 2 - 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience. (Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.)
• Able to work in a 24x7 shift work environment.
• Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Requires working knowledge and understanding of both Transport and IP network topologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Tech control facility or cyber transport experience
• Circuit actions experience
• Telco NOC, inside or outside plant experience.
• Experience with MS Office suite, i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, TEAMs.
• Experience with one or more of the following: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, performance management.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $59,150.00 - $106,925.00
