Job summary

McWane Ductile New Jersey Plant is seeking a Facilities Grounds Person to promote and maintain a safe, clean environment across the plant and surrounding community areas.

The role involves working indoors and outdoors in high noise and heat of our industrial site, with duties from debris removal to grounds maintenance, operating lifts, and snow removal as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have general knowledge of and hands-on experience with lite maintenance capabilities such as mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical skills (Handy Man).
• Must be able to operate a high-lift, scissor lift and materials handling equipment, i.e., forklift.
• Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labor in a manufacturing environment with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and remove debris and garbage.
• Monitor and maintain plant health.
• Trim hedges, shrubs and small trees.
• Inspect grounds for safety hazards and perform repairs.
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.
• Operate and maintain powered sweeping equipment and vehicles.
• Assist production managers in housekeeping efforts as directed.
• Maintain exterior sidewalks and internal plant safety walks.
• Set up, prepare and clear sites and plant facilities for events.
• Perform snow removal and de-icing activities.
• Operate and maintain snow removal equipment and vehicles.
• Observe health, safety and compliance regulations during work.
• Safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
• Work with heavy equipment and PPE as required.

McWane Ductile New Jersey is an industry leader in manufacturing water distribution and infrastructure products. As our country expanded, so did the need to supply growing cities with clean water and safely remove wastewater. Our location history starts in 1865 when Warren Foundry and Machine Company casted stoves, steam engines, mill gearing and other foundry related items. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3\" to 24\" in diameter.

Work Environment

A Facilities Grounds Person should anticipate and will be expected to work both indoors as well as outdoors experiencing high noise and heat of our industrial site and the full gamut of seasonal weather throughout the calendar year. The Grounds person can and should expect and be prepared to work in very hot or cold temperatures with no aversion or impediment either.

Job Description

Pay Rate Between $25.30 and $28.30

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

• Sweeping and removing debris / garbage
• Monitoring and maintaining plant health
• Trimming hedges, shrubs, and small trees
• Inspecting grounds for safety hazards and performing necessary repairs
• Operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment.
• Operating and maintaining powered sweeping equipment and vehicles
• When directed or assigned, they assist production department managers and superintendents in executing their areas housekeeping efforts
• Maintain exterior sidewalks and internal plant safety walks to foster and ensure safe passage
• Setting up, preparing, and clearing sites and plant facilities for events and functions
• Perform snow removal and de-icing activities
• Operate and maintain various snow removal equipment and vehicles
• MUST possess general knowledge of and have hands-on experience with lite maintenance capabilities such as mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical skills trades - Handy Man
• MUST be able to operate a high-lift, scissor lift and materials handling equipment, i.e., forklift.
• Perform all other general tasks as assigned or directed by facilities management / supervision
• Observe health, safety, and compliance regulations during work operations
• Be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions
• Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy equipment
• Reports to the Plant Services General Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Maintenance Manager.
