Job summary

Core Government Services seeks an Information Systems Security Staff member with TS/SCI clearance to support the Army Mission Command Training Program at Fort Leavenworth, KS. You will translate real-world needs into technical specs and deliver customer-focused engineering solutions for national security training environments.

You will manage servers, VMs, and cross-domain simulation tools, while ensuring secure operations, documentation, and continuous improvement of training scenarios for Army

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Meet DoD 8140 qualifications with DCWF roles including Technical Support Specialist and System Administrator at tier, Intermediate.
  • Three years of experience with Military training and training support.
  • Three years of experience integrating training environments and stimulating Army MCiS in support of unit training events.
  • Three years of experience performing system enhancements and software updates.
  • Proficiency with JLCCTC/WARSIM and WARSIM's intel model WIM or equivalent tools.
  • Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs) and secure LAN/WAN operations.
  • Familiarity with DoD configuration and patch management (DISA STIGs, SCAP).
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication; able to instruct non-technical military personnel.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • System Administration: manage servers, workstations, VMs, enclave networks, and simulation software (WARSIM) and JCDSS; monitor health and perform updates/backups.
  • Technical Support: act as SME for hardware, software, and basic networking; resolve incidents to maintain training ops.
  • Installation & Maintenance: install, configure, update simulation apps and devices; perform preventive and corrective maintenance per DoD IA directives.
  • Configuration Management: maintain baselines; document version history and change checklists across distributed nodes.
  • Exercise Support: deploy, test, troubleshoot constructive simulations; ensure interoperability with live Army systems.
  • Simulation Stimulation: validate JLCCTC outputs; troubleshoot integration with C2 hardware/software.
  • Post-Exercise Analysis: support AAR tools by capturing, replaying, exporting data; assist debriefs with metrics and lessons.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: coordinate with planners, instructional designers, and leaders to refine training scenarios; propose fidelity improvements.

Job description

CGS is looking for an Information Systems Security Staff member, with a current DOD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance, to support the US Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Administration: Manage servers, workstations, virtual machines, enclave / domain networks, and simulation software (WARSIM) and the JLCCTC Cross Domain Solution Suite (JCDSS). Monitor system health, apply OS and firmware updates, and execute routine backups.
  • Technical Support: Act as subject-matter expert for hardware, software, and basic networking troubleshooting. Respond to and resolve incidents to maintain uninterrupted training operations.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure, and update simulation applications and peripheral devices. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in line with DoD Information Assurance directives.
  • Configuration Management: Maintain hardware and software baselines across distributed nodes and exercise networks. Document version control, change histories, and configuration checklists.
  • Exercise Support: Deploy, test, and troubleshoot constructive simulations. Ensure interoperability with live Mission Command platforms so staff train on actual Army systems.
  • Simulation Stimulation: Validate that JLCCTC outputs correctly stimulate Mission Command environments. Troubleshoot integration points with C2 hardware and software.
  • Post-Exercise Analysis: Support After Action Review (AAR) tools by capturing, replaying, and exporting simulation data. Assist exercise directors in debriefs to highlight performance metrics and lessons learned.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Coordinate with exercise planners, instructional designers, and senior leaders to refine training scenarios. Propose enhancements to increase simulation fidelity, scalability, and ease of use.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Meet DoDM 8140 qualifications with primary DoD Cyber Work Force (DCWF) role of Technical Support Specialist and secondary roles of System Administrator and Product Support Manager at tier, Intermediate
  • Three (3) years of experience with Military training and training support
  • Three (3) years of experience in integrating training environments, planning architectures, and stimulation of Army Mission Command Information Systems (MCiS) in support of unit training events and distributed exercises
  • Three (3) years of experience in performing system enhancements and installing software updates.
  • Proficiency with JLCCTC applications (WARSIM) and WARSIM's intel model WIM or equivalent constructive simulation tools.
  • Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs) and secure LAN/WAN operations.
  • Familiarity with DoD configuration and patch management processes (DISA STIGs, SCAP).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.

  • Active DOD Top Secret clearance is required.
Working Conditions

Inside Government training facilities.

Required Travel

Employees will travel to temporary work locations during exercises.
