Job summary

Modus21 is seeking a senior Cloud Engineer to support CETM for NIWC Atlantic, focusing on AWS-based DevSecOps in a DoD environment.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with Tanzu/Concourse, CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and security hardening, delivering scalable cloud solutions and clear guidance to Government IPT leadership and development teams. Remote-friendly, US-based candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or mathematics.
• Required Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
• 10-15 years experience of cloud platforms (AWS) and DevSecOps principles and practices.
• Preferred 5+ years experience specifically working with Tanzu.
• Concourse CI / VMware Tanzu Concourse: installation, configuration, scaling, worker architecture, upgrade/patching.
• Pipeline authoring: deep experience writing and maintaining Concourse pipelines (YAML), resources, jobs, tasks, groups, and triggers.
• fly CLI & pipeline operations: create/set/unpause/validate pipelines, resource types, debug pipelines.
• Scripting languages: Bash / POSIX shell (required); familiarity with Python and Node.js for scripting tasks and tooling.
• Secrets & credential management: CredHub, secure pipeline credentials handling.
• Preferred experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence and JIRA).
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

Scope of Work: The role will support the Cloud Engineering, Transition, and Modernization Support Services (CETM) effort for Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) in support of the Marine Corps Application and Hosting Services (MCAHS) Integrated Product Team (IPT). Marine Corps Business Operations Support System (MCBOSS) is a cloud-enabled environment that allows Marine and Navy users to access and build applications by implementing DevSecOps methodology to increase the security and speed at which software can be developed and delivered.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide expertise on the Broadcom Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry product to support deployment, operation, and maintenance activities
• Experience developing, operating, and maintaining Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using both Jenkins and Concourse
• Perform appropriate cybersecurity engineering activities on the Tanzu platform to include vulnerability scans, system hardening, and test-fix-test activities
• Use GitLab and develop infrastructure as code (IaC) to deploy resources in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Lift and shift planning for existing on-premises applications to cloud-based environments (AWS)
• Provide clear technical guidance and direction to stakeholders, including Government IPT Leadership and development teams
