Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. seeks a skilled MBSE engineer to develop SysML models for keyboard subsystems, capturing hardware, firmware, and human–machine interaction.

You will build and maintain MBSE artifacts including block definition diagrams, internal block diagrams, activity diagrams, state machines, and interfaces. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and UX teams to encode requirements and support verification.

Qualifications

• 7+ years MBSE experience with SysML modeling.
• Experience modeling hardware/software interactions or input peripherals.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• Proficiency with MBSE tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or EA.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed SysML models of keyboard subsystems (key matrices, sensors, switches, controllers, interfaces, ergonomics).
• Build and maintain MBSE artifacts: BDDs, IBDs, activity diagrams, state machines, interface models.
• Model keyboard behavior: input processing, debounce, protocols, power, user flows.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and UX engineers to encode requirements.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, architecture, and verification activities in MBSE.
• Conduct model-based analysis of performance, reliability, and environmental constraints.
• Integrate keyboard subsystem models into larger system architectures and pipelines.
• Apply modeling best practices and support configuration control of MBSE artifacts.
• Provide mentoring on MBSE techniques and keyboard representation.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) professional with extensive hands-on experience developing system models for keyboard subsystems. The ideal candidate has modeling experience and a strong background in capturing hardware, firmware, and humanmachine interaction aspects within SysML-based models.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed SysML models representing keyboard subsystems, including key matrices, sensors, switches, controllers, interfaces, and ergonomic considerations.
• Build and maintain MBSE artifacts such as block definition diagrams, internal block diagrams, activity diagrams, state machines, and interface models for keyboard functions.
• Model keyboard behavior including input processing, debounce logic, communication protocols, power consumption, and user interaction flows.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and humanfactors engineers to incorporate all keyboardrelated requirements and constraints into the system model.
• Ensure traceability between keyboard requirements, architecture elements, and verification activities within the MBSE environment.
• Conduct model-based analysis to evaluate performance, reliability, environmental constraints, and system interactions related to keyboard operation.
• Integrate keyboard subsystem models into larger system architectures and digital engineering pipelines.
• Apply modeling best practices, enforce model quality standards, and support configuration control of all MBSE artifacts.
• Provide mentoring and guidance on MBSE modeling techniques and keyboard subsystem representation.

Required Qualifications

• US citizenship and a secret level clearance is required
• 7+ years of handson MBSE experience with strong SysML modeling skills.
• Direct experience modeling hardware/software interactions, embedded components, or input peripherals (keyboard, keypads, HMI devices).
• Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or related technical field.
• Proficiency with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.
• Solid understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements, architecture, interface design, and verification.
• Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, firmware, UX).
