Job summary

Mathnasium in San Marino, CA is seeking a dynamic Lead Instructor to deliver individualized math instruction to K-8 students and to mentor fellow instructors using the Mathnasium Method.

Qualifications

• Within one year of earning a high school diploma.
• Strong arithmetic and Algebra I skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with students of varying ages.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
• Experience mentoring, training, supervising, or supporting others preferred.
• Bilingual Mandarin is preferred but not required.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Lead Instructor to join our Mathnasium team. As a Lead Instructor, you will play a key role in providing exceptional math instruction and instructional leadership within our learning center. You will support students by delivering individualized instruction, mentoring other instructors, and ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. Lead Instructors are expected to apply the Mathnasium Method™ by helping students develop both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency while adapting instruction to meet each student’s individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized math instruction using the Mathnasium Method™ while focusing on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and student growth
• Support students from kindergarten through middle school with varying skill levels and learning needs
• Guide students through personalized learning plans while tracking progress and celebrating achievements
• Take ownership of student progress by monitoring performance, identifying areas of improvement, and supporting students in reaching their learning goals
• Model effective teaching strategies and provide coaching, feedback, and support to instructors
• Assist with instructor training and maintaining consistent instructional standards
• Support student behavior management and maintain a positive learning environment
• Communicate student progress and recommendations with parents and guardians
• Partner with Center Leadership to support daily operations, scheduling needs, and overall center success

Qualifications

• Within one year of earning your high school diploma
• Strong arithmetic and Algebra I skills required (candidates must demonstrate math proficiency through a Math Literacy Test)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities
• A passion for education and helping students succeed in math
• Prior experience in teaching or tutoring math is preferred
• Experience mentoring, training, supervising, or supporting others is preferred
• Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, but not required.

Schedule

Qualified applicants must be available to work five days per week (Monday–Saturday), approximately 20 hours per week, primarily during afternoon and evening hours.

Mathnasium Fall Center Hours

Monday–Thursday: 2:00 PM–7:00 PM

Friday: 1:30 PM–5:30 PM

Saturday: 9:30 AM–2:00 PM
