Job summary

Math Corps is seeking a Math Tutor to work at local schools, providing 20–30 minute math sessions for groups of up to three students. You’ll help students build skills and confidence, then hand them back to class and prepare the next group for tutoring.

You’ll be supported with coaching, ongoing training, and a competitive AmeriCorps stipend. Part-time 20 hours or full-time 35 hours per week, with weekday daytime hours and no weekends.

Qualifications

• Dependable with good attendance history.
• Able to follow instructions and implement feedback.
• Proficient with basic computer skills (email, web, etc.).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• 18+ years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to complete a background check.

Position Summary

Math multiplies a student’s future opportunities, and we’re on a mission to make sure every student has the skills they need to succeed!

Join Math Corps as a Math Tutor and you’ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. Not a math whiz? Not a problem — we’ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

How does it work? Every school day you’ll see groups of up to 3 students for 20–30 minutes of math practice. When your time together is up, you’ll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next group for tutoring. You’ll repeat until all your students are served.

With the extra attention and support, incredible growth happens. As your students build their skills and confidence, you’ll be there to encourage, celebrate, and cheer them on!

Schedule

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run October 2026–June 2027.

• 35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
• Daytime hours (correspond with school start and end times)
• Monday-Friday (no weekends)
• Time off on holidays and school release days

Part-time positions are also available at 20 hours per week!

Pay & Benefits

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Compensation: $18.89 per hour served and additional perks! Learn more.
