Ampact's Math Corps is seeking a Math Tutor to support students at local schools during the 2026-27 school year. You will run small tutoring groups, track progress, and coordinate with an onsite coach to deliver proven activities that build math skills and confidence.

Positions follow a typical school day with daytime hours, Monday–Friday, and a Biweekly stipend as part of AmeriCorps. Training and health benefits are included through the program.

Position Summary

Math multiplies a student's future opportunities, and we're on a mission to make sure every student has the skills they need to succeed!

Join Math Corps as a Math Tutor and you'll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. Not a math whiz? Not a problem - we'll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

How does it work? Every school day you'll see groups of up to 3 students for 20-30 minutes of math practice. When your time together is up, you'll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next group for tutoring. You'll repeat until all your students are served.

With the extra attention and support, incredible growth happens. As your students build their skills and confidence, you'll be there to encourage, celebrate, and cheer them on!

Essential Qualifications

By the time you begin your service with Math Corps, you should be:

• Dependable and have a history of good attendance
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback
• Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
• Able to successfully complete a background check

Schedule

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run January 2027-June 2027.

• 35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
• Daytime hours (corresponding with school start and end times)
• Monday-Friday (no weekends)
• Time off on holidays and school release days

Part-time positions are also available at 20 hours per week!

AmeriCorps positions include a total service-hour commitment for the program year. Most hours are completed through regular site-based service; members work with program staff to plan their schedule and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside of the school day as needed.

Pay & Benefits

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Compensation: $18.18 per hour served and additional perks! Learn more.
