Job summary

Ampact's Math Corps is seeking a Math Tutor to work at a local school, providing small-group sessions and building students' math skills. You’ll guide groups of up to 3 students for 20–30 minutes, track progress, and collaborate with an onsite coach.

Training is provided, and you’ll be part of a national AmeriCorps program focused on education. Role runs during the 2026-27 school year with weekday daytime hours; AmeriCorps compensation includes a biweekly paycheck, health coverage, child care

Qualifications

  • Dependable with a history of good attendance.
  • Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
  • Proficient with basic computer tasks (email and online navigation).
  • Fluent in English (spoken, reading, writing).
  • Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent and eligible to work in the US.
  • Able to complete a background check.

Position Summary

Math multiplies a student’s future opportunities, and we’re on a mission to make sure every student has the skills they need to succeed!

Join Math Corps as a Math Tutor and you’ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. Not a math whiz? Not a problem — we’ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

How does it work? Every school day you’ll see groups of up to 3 students for 20–30 minutes of math practice. When your time together is up, you’ll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next group for tutoring. You’ll repeat until all your students are served.

With the extra attention and support, incredible growth happens. As your students build their skills and confidence, you’ll be there to encourage, celebrate, and cheer them on!

Essential Qualifications

By the time you begin your service with Math Corps, you should be:

  • Dependable and have a history of good attendance
  • Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
  • Able to successfully complete a background check
Perks Package
Schedule

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run October 2026–June 2027.

  • 35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
  • Daytime hours (corresponding with school start and end times)
  • Monday-Friday (no weekends)
  • Time off on holidays and school release days

Part-time positions are also available at 20 hours per week!

AmeriCorps positions include a total service-hour commitment for the program year. Most hours are completed through regular site-based service; members work with program staff to plan their schedule and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside of the school day as needed.

Pay & Benefits

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Compensation: $18.89 per hour served and additional perks! Learn more.
