Job summary

Saga Education is seeking a Federal Work-Study Math Tutor to join our virtual tutoring program for Whitcomb Middle School in Marlborough, MA. You will provide math support to sixth graders from home, helping to build confidence and understanding.

This remote, part-time role offers an hourly rate of $25 and a rolling application process. You'll use Saga Education’s proprietary platform and curriculum to deliver high-impact lessons after school hours, while gaining valuable tutoring experience.

Qualifications

  • Ability to engage and motivate middle school students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with virtual tutoring platforms is a plus.

Our Tutors

As a Federal Work-Study Math Tutor with Saga Education, you’ll earn income while making a real difference. Tutors from diverse backgrounds support students’ academic growth in schools nationwide. You’ll gain valuable experience and have a meaningful impact—all while staying focused on your own education.

The Process
  1. Interested applicants apply and interview with Saga Education.
  2. Applicants who successfully pass the interview stage are invited to take a short math assessment.
  3. Selected Tutors become a part of our Federal Work-Study Program, where they will work with Whitcomb Middle School to support student growth and success.
  4. Please note that selected candidates will be required to complete a background check and fingerprinting process. Fingerprinting expenses will be reimbursed for all candidates.
What You’ll Do

Join a successful virtual math tutoring program for Whitcomb Middle School, Marlborough, MA.The program has demonstrated significant success in improving students’ mathematicalunderstanding and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual, high-impact math tutoring to 6th-grade students
  • Support two students at a time
  • Prepare and deliver engaging math lessons using provided curriculum
  • Participate in asynchronous high-impact tutoring training led by Saga Education
Commitment
  • Ongoing commitment, with the option to extend through to the end of the school year in
    mid-May.
  • Students can be onboarded on a rolling basis
  • Approximately 2.5 hours per week:
  • Tutoring sessions held from 3:00-3:45 PM EST
  • Tutors must be available on Mondays and Tuesdays, 2:45 PM-4:00 PM ET
Requirements
  • Willingness to learn and apply high-impact tutoring techniques
  • Willingness to learn how to use Saga Education’s proprietary virtual platform
  • Ability to engage and motivate middle school students
  • Passion for education and making a positive impact
  • CORI/SORI background check/fingerprinting (arrangements will be made for out-of-state volunteers)
Qualifications
  • No previous high-level math knowledge required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and adaptability in working with diverse learning needsAbility to support two students at a time
  • On-camera presence is required during tutoring sessions and other activities necessary to fulfill the essential functions of this position
