Job summary

SiSTEM is hiring experienced math tutors to work with motivated students and families in the Austin area. This is not a volume tutoring gig; tutors act as trusted academic partners, helping students build real understanding, stronger problem‑solving strategies, and confidence in math at every level.

If you specialize in elementary through AP Calculus or any level, we want you on our team. You set your own rates, keep 100% of what you earn, and are matched to students based on subject, grade

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring in math.
• Deep expertise in at least one math level listed (elementary to AP).
• Experience with motivated students in honors, Pre-AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings.

Responsibilities

• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just finish homework.

Middle School Math (Grades 6–8):

• Pre-Algebra.


• Algebra I.


• Ratios, proportions, and probability.


• Integers, expressions, and equations.


• Geometry fundamentals.

High School Math (Grades 9–12):

• Algebra I and II.


• Geometry.


• Trigonometry.


• Pre-Calculus.


• Calculus (AB and BC).


• Statistics and Probability.

Advanced and Honors-Level Math:

• Honors and Pre-AP Math.


• AP Calculus AB / BC.


• AP Statistics.


• IB Mathematics.


• Dual Credit College Math.

Test Prep Math Sections:

• SAT Math.


• ACT Math.


• STAAR Math (Grades 3–8 and End-of-Course).


• TSI Math.


• ISEE / SSAT Quantitative Sections.

You do not need to tutor every level. If you specialize in elementary math only, or AP Calculus only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

What You'll Do:

What We're Looking For:

We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.

Strong candidates typically have:

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in math.


• Deep expertise in at least one of the math levels listed above.


• Experience working with motivated students who are in honors, Pre-AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings.


• A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with.


• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make math click for students who think they're \"not a math person\".


• Professional reliability.

Bonus:

Current or former math teachers, engineers or STEM professionals who tutor, educators with degrees in mathematics or math education, tutors with experience teaching multiple grade bands.
