Varsity Tutors is seeking Texas-certified teachers to tutor students online through our Live Learning Platform. You can set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and work remotely from home.

Earn up to $40/hour with incremental pay by session and get paid up to twice per week. We handle payments and offer AI-powered tools to support your teaching, with no commuting required.

Qualifications

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required) from TEA.
• Deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s) with K-12 alignment.
• Experience teaching in a Texas classroom and understanding TEKS standards.
• Ability to diagnose gaps, adjust pacing, and explain concepts in multiple ways.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students.
• Accept on-demand tutoring requests when available.
• Tailor instruction to student needs and track progress.

What We Look For In a Texas Certified Teacher Tutor

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required): Must hold a current, active teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). You will be asked to provide your certificate number during the application process for verification at tealprod.tea.state.tx.us.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K-12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards and how to apply them in one-on-one instruction.
• Conceptual Teaching & Adaptive Instruction: Skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
