Job summary

Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy Company, is seeking Texas-certified teachers to join our Live Learning Platform as remote tutors. You’ll teach K-12 concepts online, set your own schedule, and earn competitive rates up to $40/hour.

Join a flexible, home-based tutoring role with fast compensation—get paid up to twice per week. You’ll be matched with students and supported by our Tutor Copilot AI to plan engaging lessons.

Qualifications

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (TEA) required and verifiable.
• Subject matter expertise in certified subject area(s) aligned to K-12 TEKS standards.
• Classroom teaching experience in a Texas setting with TEKS knowledge.
• Diagnose student gaps, adjust pacing and approach with multiple methods.

What We Look For In a Texas Certified Teacher Tutor

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required): Must hold a current, active teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). You will be asked to provide your certificate number during the application process for verification at tealprod.tea.state.tx.us.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K-12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards and how to apply them in one‑on‑one instruction.
• Conceptual Teaching &Adaptive Instruction: Skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
