Job summary

Oakmont Education seeks a High School Math Teacher to join Steel City High School in Lorain, Ohio. This full-time position focuses on delivering engaging, standards-aligned math instruction and supporting urban students toward strong outcomes.

You'll use data-driven planning, differentiate instruction, and foster relationships with students, families, and staff. A state license and a Bachelor's in Education are required, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Valid active state teaching license in math (high school).
• Bachelor's degree in Education.
• Passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students.
• Strong communication, organizational and classroom management skills.
• Comfort using technology to support and engage students.
• Bonus: coding or computer science experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging math lessons aligned to state standards, with clear objectives and high expectations.
• Create a supportive, orderly classroom where every student can thrive, both on-site and off-site.
• Use data and assessments to guide instruction and drive high standards of achievement for all students.
• Differentiate instruction for individuals and groups, reflecting the full range of student abilities and needs.
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, and collaborate with staff to improve student learning.
• Bring real-world relevance to the classroom, helping students apply what they learn to solve real problems.
• Adapt and enrich the curriculum with technology and creative strategies that keep students engaged.
• Provide opportunities for student growth outside the classroom, such as student organizations, physical activities, and service learning.
• Keep accurate, confidential student records, including grades, attendance, and behavior.
• Take part in the school community attending meetings and contributing to school-wide decisions on policies, programs, and teaching practices.
