Job summary

Texans Can! Academies Fort Worth campus seeks a Math Teacher to serve students enrolled in our virtual campus while housed on a physical campus in the DFW area. The position offers a starting salary around $52,000 per year and a potential stipend up to $7,000.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and a Texas teaching certificate (preferred, but not required). You will develop lessons, assess students, and collaborate with staff to support diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements.

• Present subject matter according to Texans Can’s methodologies.
• Conduct student assessments and maintain an up-to-date gradebook.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Learn requirements for IEPs to deliver material to special education students.
• Establish instructional goals with staff and supervise teacher aides/volunteers.
• Use technology effectively when working with students.
• Participate in all instructional activities.

Job Description

To determine prospective salary, please view the Texans Can Academies Compensation Plan . This position may also be eligible for an up to $7,000 stipend.

NOTE: This position will service students enrolled in our virtual campus but will be housed on a physical campus in either DFW or Houston.

Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate in the content area preferred, but not required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of subjects assigned
• Willingness to learn what is required to become a successful teacher
• An ability to communicate effectively with students and adults
• The ability to work with large groups of people

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for different learners.
• Present subject matter according to the requirements of Texans Can’s methodologies.
• Conduct student assessments regularly and maintain an up-to-date studentgradebook.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Learn the requirements of the need for an Individual Education Plan in order to successfully deliver the instructional material to the special education students.
• Work with other members of staff to establish instructional goals and objectives.
• Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
• Learn to use technology effectively when working with students.
• Participate in all instructional activities.

• Any and all requirements necessary to fulfill therole of a teacher.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
