Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking an Elementary-Middle-High School Classroom Teacher for Reno High School. The role involves implementing curriculum, planning instruction, and maintaining a positive classroom environment to support diverse learners.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's Degree with student teaching, plus three years of contracted teaching experience and the ability to obtain a Nevada teaching license. Salary is per WCSD schedules with full benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with student teaching experience
• Experience: Three (3) years of verified contracted teaching experience with a Bachelor's Degree and the ability to obtain a valid teaching license in Nevada
• Knowledge of child development, behavior and characteristics of students, subject area and/or credential area of teaching
• Skill at creating an effective environment for learning and establishing relationships within the school community

Responsibilities

• Planning and Preparation: Demonstrates mastery of content and pedagogy; sets instructional outcomes for diverse learners; designs coherent instruction and assessments aligned with standards
• Classroom Environment: Creates a respectful environment; organizes space; manages behavior; establishes a culture for learning; demonstrates cultural competency
• Instruction: Communicates expectations; engages students; uses questioning and discussion; embeds assessments; demonstrates flexibility and MTSS familiarity
• Professional Responsibilities: Maintains records; reflects on teaching; supports family/community partnerships; participates in a professional community; demonstrates professionalism and ethics

Education

Bachelor's Degree with student teaching experience

Three (3) years of verified contracted teaching experience

Ability to obtain Nevada teaching license
