Job summary

Starkville Oktibbeha School District seeks a Math Lead Teacher to provide on-site math support, professional development, and leadership across district schools. The role reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and covers an 11-month contract with start date immediately.

Qualifications

  • Valid Mississippi teaching license is required.
  • Minimum of three years of professional classroom teaching experience.
  • Evidence of outstanding performance as a classroom teacher.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site mathematical guidance to teachers and administrators.
  • Deliver professional development aligned with district goals and frameworks.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating district professional development.
  • Distribute MS CCR Standards and related materials to faculty.
  • Assist in selecting curriculum resources.
  • Plan instruction with grade-level teams and individuals.
  • Monitor and support instructional delivery and use of materials.
  • Analyze data to set student achievement goals and inform staff development.
  • Serve on the school leadership team and district committees.
  • Leverage MTSS and RTI processes to support interventions.
  • Report to the assigned location and communicate anticipated absences.
  • Support summer school guidelines and related program materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Job Description

TITLE: Math Lead Teacher

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

LENGTH OF CONTRACT OR WORK YEAR: 11-Month Position

Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site technical assistance to teachers and administrators in the area of mathematics.
  • Provide professional development based on individual school and teacher needs, particularly in relation to the frameworks/benchmarks and district instructional goals. Focus on in-class and one-on-one assistance as much as possible. Keep records of teacher support using district provided curriculum support document.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of district professional development for individuals and groups.
  • Providing faculty with copies of the MS CCR Standards and related curriculum materials.
  • Assisting in determining curriculum resources.
  • Planning instruction with grade-level teams and with individuals.
  • Monitor, provide feedback, and support for teachers on instructional delivery and effective use of instructional materials.
  • Analyzing data in order to determine student achievement goals and design appropriate staff development.
  • Serving as a member of the school leadership team.
  • Serving on district-level committees.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Support and the Response to Intervention Process.
  • Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies supervisor or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.
  • Assist with establishing summer school and summer bridge guidelines for instruction, grading or record keeping. Provide training for teachers and assist with program material development and preparation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent or his designee.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Mississippi teaching license
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional classroom experience
  • Outstanding performance as a classroom teacher
  • Exemplary written and verbal skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in School Administration or National Board Certification
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Peer observation, coaching, mentoring and conferencing skills
