Job summary

Mathnasium Learning Center is seeking energetic math educators/tutors to work with students on various math concepts on site in West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Twp, and nearby communities. Instructors will follow a student learning plan and Mathnasium curriculum during sessions.

Hours during the school year typically run 3:30 PM–8:00 PM on weekdays and 10:30 AM–2:00 PM on weekends with scheduling flexibility based on preferences.

Qualifications

• College student studying math or math education, or a math-related degree.
• Able to teach in a small group setting (3:1 Student to Instructor).
• Able to pass a math literacy exam and background check.
• Excellent organization and planning; reliable and passionate about working with kids.
• Able to tutor high school level math is a plus.
• Experience with special needs students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Tutor elementary to high school math on-site at the learning center.
• Work with students to follow learning plans and Mathnasium curriculum.
• Maintain flexible scheduling to accommodate after-school and weekend hours.

Job Description

Mathnasium Learning Center is searching for energetic, dedicated and passionate math educators/tutors to work with elementary, middle, and high school level students on various math concepts on site at our learning center in West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Twp, Commerce Twp. Instructors will be provided with a student's learning plan and associated Mathnasium curriculum for use during the sessions. The position promises a rewarding experience with students who are eager to learn.

Each learning center has its own specific open hours for both in centre and online sessions. The hours during the school year typically start at 3:30PM until 8PM during the week and 10:30AM - 2PM on weekends. During the summer, the hours are slightly different and can be reviewed during the interview process. Instructor scheduling is flexible as candidates can provide preferences.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Appropriate educational background (i.e. college student studying math/math education/or technical field, current or retired teacher with math related teaching experience, a college graduate with a degree in a math related field, exceptional high school student entering Junior or Senior year with strong math background and has completed Algebra 2 with Trig.)
• Able to teach in a small group setting (Student to Instructor Ratio - 3:1)
• Able to pass a math literacy exam and background check
• Excellent organization/planning skills and can function with minimal direction
• Committed, reliable, and passionate about working with kids from elementary to high school level.
• Able to tutor high school level math is a plus.
• Experience working with special needs students is a plus.
