Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is hiring a Math Instructor in South Carolina to teach core math concepts, drive mastery, and help students achieve top ACT/SAT scores. In this role you will guide middle and high school students through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum and provide individualized growth opportunities.

You will organize schedules, communicate with students promptly, and develop engaging lesson plans. A bachelor’s degree in math/education, 1+ years of teaching experience, and a strong GPA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, education, or related STEM field from US Schools; Master’s or higher preferred
• Teaching experience in math or college-level tutoring center (1+ years)
• Academic history showing high achievement (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
• Access to reliable internet and a dedicated workspace

Responsibilities

• Teach small core groups of students in math core skills to drive long-term mastery and top ACT/SAT scores
• Monitor student progress using Vanguard's multi-phase curriculum and engage students in growth opportunities
• Reply to students in a timely manner and maintain/update lesson schedules on the online platform
• Develop and execute evolving lesson plans and curriculum
• Mentor middle and high school students navigating college prep challenges

Compensation:

• Base Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 / hour (40 hours/week)

As a Math Instructor, you will be expected to:

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small "core" groups of students in their math core skills to drive long‑term mastery of topics and top ACT/SAT scores


• Track Growth: Monitor your students' progress using Vanguard's multi‑phase curriculum, engaging students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities along the way.


• Organize: Model professionalism and strong organizational skills by replying to students in a timely manner, maintaining and updating student lesson schedules on our online platform, and holding students accountable for assignments.


• Innovate: Spearhead the development and creative execution of ever‑evolving lesson plans and curriculum.


• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students with empathy as they navigate an increasingly competitive college prep landscape.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, education, or related STEM field from US Schools (Master's or higher preferred; open to those near graduation)


• Teaching experience in math and/or experience working in a community college or college‑level tutoring center (1+ years)


• Academic history demonstrating high achievement (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)


• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites


• Access to a reliable internet connection and a dedicated, quiet workspace

The ideal candidate will also possess:

• Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy, and the ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans that use practical, real‑world examples to inspire a love for learning


• Desire to help students recognize, reach for, and realize their fullest potential


• Engaging communicator who can make complex math feel approachable


• The ability to work both independently and in a team environment


• Mastery of SAT and ACT Math, especially the following subjects:
  • Pre-Algebra
  • Algebra I & II
  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
